Shoonya brokerage calculator — full charges on an NSE trade
Last updated:
Short answer
Shoonya by Finvasia charges ₹0 brokerage on equity delivery, 0.03% or ₹5 (whichever is lower) per executed order on intraday and futures, and a flat ₹5 per order on options — the lowest per-order fees among major Indian brokers, though no longer fully zero. Statutory charges — STT, NSE transaction charges, SEBI fees, stamp duty and 18% GST — apply in full, plus roughly ₹10.62 per scrip DP charge on delivery sells. This calculator itemises everything.

Estimate for one NSE round trip (one buy + one sell order). Brokers round each component per order, so contract notes can differ by small amounts. For options, prices are premiums and quantity is lots × lot size.
Shoonya built its name on true zero brokerage across every segment. That era has ended: as of September 2026 its published schedule caps intraday, futures and options orders at ₹5 rather than ₹0. Still the cheapest per-order card among the brokers covered here — an options round trip costs ₹10 against the usual ₹40 — but traders repeating the “Shoonya is free” claim are a pricing revision behind.
Enter a trade below for the itemised breakdown. Rates were verified against Shoonya’s published pricing in September 2026 and are printed in the assumptions table.
How Shoonya’s charges work
Equity delivery remains ₹0 brokerage. Intraday and futures cost 0.03% of order value capped at ₹5 — the cap binds above about ₹16,700, so most orders pay the flat ₹5. Options are ₹5 per executed order. The statutory stack is untouched by any broker’s pricing: STT (0.1% both sides delivery, 0.025% sell intraday, 0.05% sell futures, 0.15% of premium sell-side options), NSE transaction charges, SEBI fee, buy-side stamp duty and 18% GST on brokerage plus transaction charges. DP charges of about ₹10.62 (₹9 + GST) per scrip apply on delivery sells.
The practical effect: on an options round trip, Shoonya saves ₹30 of brokerage versus a ₹20-flat broker — but the statutory charges on a single NIFTY lot’s premium can exceed that entire saving. Low per-order fees widen thin edges; they do not create them.
Shoonya for algo traders
Finvasia ships a full trading API for Shoonya at no extra charge, which combined with the ₹5 caps makes it arithmetically the friendliest broker for high-frequency retail systems: a strategy placing forty orders a day pays ₹200 in brokerage where a ₹20-flat broker would charge ₹800. For exactly that class of strategy, the difference between the two is sometimes the difference between positive and negative expectancy — run your own numbers above.
INDfolio AI connects to Shoonya through the official API and deducts this exact cost stack per simulated trade in backtests, ₹5 caps and all — so a high-frequency system validated on the platform was judged at the costs it will actually pay.
Worked examples: Shoonya charges on four typical trades
Computed by the same engine as the calculator above, so the two always agree. Each trade is bought and sold at the same price, so the total is the pure cost of the round trip and the breakeven is the price move needed just to cover it.

These calculators are free, run entirely in your browser, and store nothing. They produce estimates for NSE trades based on published rates and standard formulas — not investment advice, and not a substitute for your broker’s contract note. INDfolio AI builds algo trading software; the honest connection is that our backtests apply this same cost arithmetic to every simulated trade.
